You are a robot... Builder! Join the First Robotics team where you and some awesome friends can build a robot and enter a competition at the Wilkins Auditorium at the end of six weeks! Plus! There is some scholarship money for those who stay with the team for 2 years or longer! The first meeting is Nov. 19th at 2:30 in the Field House Lobby, see you there! Congrats to the Highland Math Team!! Highland's Math Team competed in its first Meet of the season. Highland finished third in a field of nine St. Paul Public, Charter and Private High Schools. The team was led by senior Ananda Guneratne and junior Matt Poulos with 12 points each. Juniors Samantha Alch, Eli Bier, Miles Oppenheimer, Emma Schneider and freshman Ben White all scored 10 points each! Congratulations Math Team!
Join Model UN! We meet on Thursdays @ 2:15pm in rm 213. We'd love to have you! The Zone The Zone is a safe, quiet space for students to do homework and get one-on-one homework help from our tutors. We provide computers for the students to use, as well as free printing for anything school related. We take students of all ages, grades and subjects (although Math and Science predominate the questions we are asked). Our tutors are friendly and patient, and most have experience either working with ELL students or are fluent or proficient in another language. For students who may need help with using the computer, the coordinators are trained in computer education, even for the most elementary beginner. We also are willing and able to help students study for the ACT and SAT and edit their college essays. Our hours are Monday-Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 and Saturday from 1:00-4:00. Our flyer is here. After School Tutoring Need help with your classes? Drop in tutoring is available in the HPSH Library each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 2-3pm. NHS upperclassmen are waiting to work with you! Check in with Juan Jose as you come in - bus tokens available if needed.
Need Homework help? Now in  | | Eli Simmer and his Advanced Wood Shop Project. | their 9th year, Homework Center wants to help you with your homework!! There are five Saint Paul Public Libraries that are apart of this program, at the Rondo Community Outreach Library, and at the Rice Street, Riverview, Sun Ray, and Dayton's Bluff Branches. And no worries about money, this program is 100% free. Their document is at the bottom of the page here. Work Out after school John Ekblad and Dan Mattimiro have volunteered to keep the Fitness Center open during the fall(John on Mondays, and Dan on Wednesdays and Fridays). 2:15pm to 3:30pm.

HP Students win the National History Day competition: More than a half-million elementary and secondary students compete each year in the contest. Students extensively research and analyze a historical topic and present their work in original papers, web sites, exhibits, performances and documentaries. Dena Coffman, Erica Dombro and Hannah Powers took first-place and won the $5,000 History Channel Award for a group documentary. Congrats!! Read the Star Tribune article.
Extra, extra!! You could be apart of the school newspaper staff!! There are School Newspaper Meetings/ every Wednesday in Canelake's 317 room during advisory time. Please get your planners signed if you would like to come to the Wednesday meetings. Regular student newspaper staff will get permanent passes once they are chosen. The newspaper is looking for cartoonists, writers, advice columnists, astrologers, puzzle-makers, school news, local,regional, global news writers, illustrators, photographers, sports, culture writers, and any other ideas.
