M403111 Algebra 1 (For students who have not taken Algebra 1A) Grade 9  4 Quarters
Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra
Algebra 1 is the first course of three: algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2/trigonometry, which satisfy the requirements for graduation and prepare students for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA).  This course extends through linear functions and inequalities, systems of linear equations, polynomials, quadratic and exponential functions.

M403011 Intermediate Algebra    (For students who have taken Algebra 1A
in junior high) Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Algebra 1A
This course covers the second half of a traditional Algebra 1 course.  Students are required to have completed an algebra 1A full year course at the junior high level.  Algebra 1B extends through polynomials and quadratics and exponential functions.  Students that have not taken Algebra 1A and require and algebra course should enroll in Algebra 1 A/B

M404111 Geometry Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Algebra 1 (M403111)
Geometry is the second course of three: algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2/trigonometry. These courses satisfy the requirements for graduation and prepare students for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA).  Emphasis is placed on the understanding, application and development of geometric properties in two and three dimensions.  Geometry is consistently connected to Algebra topics.

M434121 Geometry IB Prep Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Algebra 1(M403111)
Geometry IB Prep is the second course of three: algebra 1, geometry IB prep, and algebra 2/trigonometry IB prep. These courses satisfy the requirements for graduation and prepare students for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA).  Emphasis is placed on the understanding, application, development
and justification of geometric properties with proof.  Geometry is consistently connected to algebra topics.

M405201 Algebra 2 / Trigonometry  Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Geometry (M404111)
After successful completion of this course the student will be ready to complete the MCA math test given in the 11th grade. The course also prepares students for Math Studies. An emphasis is placed on recognizing linear, quadratic, exponential and nth root functions in real-world and mathematical situations and
representing/interpreting them using tables, graphs, equations/inequalities and verbal descriptions.

M435201 Algebra 2 / Trigonometry IB Prep Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Geometry IB Prep (M434121)
After successful completion of this course, the student will be ready to complete the MCA math test given in the 11th grade. The course also prepares students for Math Studies, Pre-calculus, and Calculus. An emphasis is placed on recognizing linear, quadratic, exponential and nth root functions in real-world and mathematical situations and representing/interpreting them using tables, graphs, equations/inequalities and verbal descriptions.

M437051 Pre-Calculus IB Grades 9 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Algebra 2/Trigonometry IB Prep (M435201) or Math Studies 2 (M471211)
This course covers all the regular pre-calculus topics plus topics needed for the math methods IB test. All topics are covered completely and at a faster pace than in a regular course. It is for the highly motivated mathematics students who wish to develop mature study habits that are necessary for college and IB work. Students will need graphing calculators for this course.

M477101 Calculus IB  Grades 10 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Pre Calculus IB (M437051)
This course in differential and integral calculus is similar to the freshman calculus offered in most colleges and universities.  The course is demanding and requires mature study habits. Many of the students in this course will be preparing for the Standard Level test or Higher Level the following year.  Students will need a graphing calculator for this course.

M471301 Mathematics Advanced Topics IB Grades 11 – 12 4 Quarters

Prerequisite: Calculus IB (M477101)
In this course students will study three dimensional vector geometry, probability, differential equations, applications and techniques of integration, and infinite series.  Special emphasis is placed on reasoning, justification and proof.  This course, together with Calculus IB prepares students for the Higher Level IB Exam. A graphing calculator is required.

M471201 Math Studies 1 IB Grades 10 – 12
Prerequisite: Algebra 2/Trigonometry IB Prep (M435201) or  Algebra 2/Trigonometry (M405201) or concurrent with the above course requirements.  Math Studies I includes coordinate geometry, quadratics, functions, perimeter, area, volume and financial mathematics.  This course, along with Math Studies 2 IB, prepares students for the Math Studies standard level IB exam.

M471211 Math Studies 2 IB Grades 11 – 12 4 Quarters
Prerequisite: Math Studies 1 IB(M471201) or Pre-Calculus IB (M437051)
Math Studies II includes statistics, trigonometry, sequences and series, sets, logic, probability, calculus, and graph theory.  This course, along with Math Studies 1, prepares students for the Math Studies standard level IB exam.
