Graduation Requirements
These are the graduation requirements for all students in Saint Paul Public Schools.

Subject Specific Requirements:
  • English: 4 years
  • Social Studies: 3.5 years
  • Science: 3 years, one year must be Biology
  • Mathematics: 3 years, must complete through Algebra 2/Trigonometry
  • Fine Arts: 1 year
  • Physical Education: .5 year
  • Health: .5 year
  • FACS/Tech: .5 year
  • Electives: dependent on graduation year (see below)
Total Credit Requirements:
Because of recent schedule changes at Highland Park Senior High, the total number of credits needed to graduate is dependent on the student's graduation year.  Students coming into Highland Park from other school districts may also have a different total.
  • Class of 2008: 58 credits
  • Class of 2009: 66 credits
  • Class of 2010: 73 credits
  • Class of 2011: 80 credits
  • Class of 2012 and beyond: 86 credits

State Testing Requirements:
Students in the class of 2008 and 2009 must pass the Minnesota Basic Standards testsin Reading, Writing and Mathematics.

Students in the class of 2010 and beyond must pass the MCA/GRAD tests in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
