To: Highland Park Class of '74 From: Peter Kenefick RE: Minutes from 7/22/09 Meeting
Hello again class, for the last time until our reunion next week. Can you just feel the excitement? No? OK, well trust me, (always a consoling statement from a stockbroker) it is building to a feverish pitch. It has been very fun getting all of your forms and emails, especially those of you that are coming for the first time. I am overwhelmed by the response. You have truly proven the statement right that "we are the closest class to come out of Highland".
We put the finishing touches on last night. The DVD is done and will be showing Friday and Saturday night. We have been asked about buying a copy of the DVD, and decided we can sell it for 5 bucks to pay for the cost with any additional proceeds going to me?? no wait, I mean to the donation fund that we are giving back to Highland. On that note if you have any thoughts on what specifically we should do with the money, please let me know.
If you are not playing golf, I wanted to share just how clever your classmates are. Most golf events have a "closest to the pin" for a prize. Our twist on that event is "closest to Mr. Lundeen". That's right, a blow up picture of our beloved principal on the green glaring back at the golfers. Some of us know that glare better than others. By the way, if you hit him it pays double!
A few more names, again I can't list them all, that are coming: Mike Volk, Pat Schabert, John Caruson, Mary Rich, Jim Noah, Mary Lou McDonnell, Kevin Gellerman, Deb Bear Smith & Mark "Snuffy" Smith, Russ King and Tom Lang. John Plait emailed and is not able to get away from sunny California, but said to have fun and take lots of pictures.
Please remember that parking on Grand is limited. The side streets south of Dixie's are your best bet if the lot is full. For all of you flying, have a safe flight in and we are looking forward to seeing you on the 31st.
Lastly, make sure you give a pat on the back when you see the following committee members: Deanne Becker, Tammy Binman, Betsy Dickman, Anne Zugschwert Garner, Jane Harbinson, Bill Hinderer, Kim Kostron Nyquist, Lynn Meredith, Katie Quinn, Diane Meehan Stupka, Sue Hartzell Vanelli, Bob Wokasch, & Eric Zilley. They have all worked very hard to make our 35th a success. The truth be told is we hope you have as many laughs at the reunion as we did planning it. See you on the 31st!
Respectfully submitted,
Peter Kenefick & the hardest working reunion committee in America
