RE: Minutes from our last meeting-June 10, 2009

Wow! The class of '74 is fired up.  The last e-mail generated a ton of responses from our class.  I heard from Steve Nisenholz (Chicago), Linda (Bronstein) Kalin (Souix City, Iowa) Ron Webb (Bend, sorry I was never that good in geography so I don’t know where Bend is), Tom Vesely (St. Louis) Congrats to Tom he is the first classmate to get his check in for the reunion....well technically that’s not true a few of the committee members gave me their checks but they bounced, some things never change!  Laurie Dineen (who unfortunately will be in Sioux Falls, South Dakota during the reunion).  I also heard from some locals like Bruce Davis, Marsha Schwartz, Mary (Wagner) Morrow, Kathy Nyberg (Mulcrone) and Red Peterson (Red wasn't calling about the reunion he just wanted to know what time our 7:15 softball game started.  I told him "ahhh 7:15" he said "Great see you there" and just think he's one of the smart guys from our class). Special thanks to Tammy Binman and Eric Zilley who joined the committee and came to their first meeting.  It might be coincidental but it was also a meeting we got a lot accomplished.

Missy (Fischer) Struve also made the meeting. Congratulations to Missy who just about a month ago was elected to the Highland Park Hall of Fame. Nice goin' Missy!

By now you should have received our regular mail registration forms, which we assembled at the meeting, we only had one small snafu with this project.  Let me ask you, if one of the committee members, Bill "Catman" Catlin, not to name names, worked at the US Post office for over 20 years wouldn't you think he would be the logical person to be assigned the task of getting the stamps? Well to our surprise Bill looked at our tri-fold mailings and said "oh oh I only bought post card stamps which can't be used, I must have been in the bathroom when we decided to send tri-folds".  Cliff Claven's got nothing on Catman!

Special thanks to Anne (Zugschwert) Garner for printing the flyers, Katie Quinn for all the labels, Deanne (Becker) Probst and Betsy (Lueder) Dickman for the e-registration form and Lynn Meredith for compiling the "Missing list".  Are any of you noticing that the women of our class are doing the lions share of the work?

OK, time to pay attention.  These are the highlights from the classes emails and our meeting.

We sampled 5 food items for Saturday night. Being sensitive to our classes diversity we chose three items, Blackened Catfish, Honey Pecan Chicken and Pork Tenderloin. So whether you keep Kosher or Lent, we got you covered.

We are going to set up a Highland face book page to collect classmate updates for those who are unable to attend.

We are going to collect donations so the class of'74 can give a scholarship back to the current class of seniors.

We are going to have a camera and printer for party pics at the reunion.

We are going to have a scrolling video at the reunion made up of pictures provided by you. Please e-mail via j-peg any pictures so we can build the video.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE ATTACHED MISSING LIST AND HELP US GET ADDRESSES, ESPECIALLY E-MAIL.

Get you registration forms in!

OK That’s enough for now!

Respectfully submitted by Peter Kenefick and the hardest working reunion committee in America.
