Last weeks meeting was an actual "Working" meeting. As the word "Working" got blasted around the e-mail chain it definitely had an affect on attendance. We expect a much larger turn out for the "Eating" meeting when we sample everything on the Dixie's menu, vote on what to serve at the reunion only to have Dixie's head chef tell us what we are going to eat. A futile but fun meeting.
It must be our age, but there were actually committee members there at 8:00 for the 8:00 start. The task at hand was putting stickers and stamps on the mailing to our class. Thanks to Katie for designing and having the cards done and thanks to Bill "Catman" Catlin for getting 400 stamps for $100. If you buy stamps in Eagan, my advice is to make sure you go to his window! The cards were stickered and stamped by 8:27 pm and the meeting adjourned at 12:25 Am.
Some of the other highlights were centered around our going through the 1994 twenty years later reunion book that Bullet brought. It was especially fun to see the songs the class wanted us to play like "Garden Party" by Ricky Nelson, "Radar Love" by Golden Earding, "Your so Vain" by Carly Simon. The most interesting song request was by Bob Ackerman who has spent his entire life sailing and now lives on the water in Florida. He wanted to hear "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot. Bob, if you haven't already, the committee wanted you to know there is a lot of professional help out there!
I do want to correct Bullet on his statement when he was asked how white his beard is when he plays Santa Claus over the holidays. He paused, pointed at me and said "It's like the color of Pete's hair". Let the record show that I am still blonde and it was just the low lighting in the room.
Lastly for those of you that weren't there you really missed out when Betsy pulled out her lap top to show us pictures of a family wedding. Betsy, please don't take Bob Wokaschs comment "oh gee look at the time" wrong, it was purely a coincidence.
The one picture we did all enjoy seeing was Betsy doing the "bump" on the dance floor sandwiched between Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber and New England Patriots running back Laurence Maroney. Two things struck me about the picture: 1.) Betsy had the least amount of jewelry on and 2.) They looked like a life size dancing Oreo!
Thanks to all the members for the laughs. Friends are even more appreciated during times like these.
