Classes
If you are participating in the IB Program at Highland, here is a template that you can consider when planning your schedule:

To earn the IB Diploma you must test in 3 HL, 3 SL 
(2 exams Jr year) 
take one exam in each Group 1-5, and also a 6th subject (can be science,
language, computer science, geography, or one of the arts)

In addition, there are three additional components for the IB Diploma:

CAS (Creativity, Action, Service)  -  150 hours required – to be logged between June after Sophomore year and April 1 of Senior year.  1/3 must be in realm of service.  One service activity should comprise at least 25 hours.

TOK (Theory of Knowledge) – required class taken during senior year

Extended Essay – Independent research project written between junior and senior years.  3500-4000 words, on a subject of the student’s choosing, agreed upon with teacher advisor.

Requirements for Honors:
Any 4 exams, plus 75 hours of CAS, TOK class,  and a speech given to a committee during January of 12th grade.

This is recognized at Highland Park Senior High as a step above general graduation requirements, and the honors students are part of the graduating IB senior resognitions (medallion, honors evening, noted at graduation
